Description
6" x 6" [Image Area] Ballpoint Pen and Colored Markers on 2-Ply Comic Art Board.
Bit of a Story to this one: Years ago the Starlog Group [publishers of Starlog and Fangoria magazines] put out a comic book fan magazine called Comicscene [Not to be confused with Jim Steranko's earlier tabloid of the same name.] I sold spot cartoons to Comicscene on a semi-regular basis, before it stopped publication.
A few years ago I decided to see if I could place some cartoons at the parent [science fiction] magazine, Starlog. Unfortunately, in those years, nothing I have submitted was ever published, nor were the originals ever returned to me [I always provide Self-Addressed Stamped Envelopes for their return.] Starlog appears to be yet another publication with a set stable of cartoonists.
Have a folder full of unsubmitted ideas, I've decided to pull one out occasionally, finish it and then post it here on DeviantArt. This is the first of several to come, which I will Folder under the title of "Sly-Fi."
There are a batch that I never sent to Starlog, once I locate the envelope, I post those here as well. I'm holding off posting the cartoons still with Starlog - just in case they ultimately decide to run one.
