2009 THURSDAY JOURNALS: 07/02

Thu Jul 2, 2009, 12:52 AM
Mid-year of 2009 marks the beginning of my attempt to establish a regular routine of posting to my various websites. Here at DeviantArt, this EJJS site will be acting as the Central Hub of my Internet activities. The plan is to plunk down some Journal Jabbering every Tuesday and Thursday, explaining what I’m up to and where to find my newest postings.

The current plan calls for working from three (3) sites:

The Central Hub, as I’ve said. Besides hosting my Journals, I will be posting all of my Single Illustration work here as well. I am looking to Section the single picture material into just a few basic Galleries. Most of these Galleries have been established already.

The AutoCAD Gallery hosts drawings that are finished in the vector-based, mechanical drawing program, AutoCAD 2000. As I have explained before, I use this vector program because I have it at work and can play around with drawings and designs at lunchtime – that, and I can’t afford a real vector drawing program at this time. I tend to limit CAD to Logo Designs and Artwork that I use on T-shirts and Magnets, and I beginning to consider abandoning it for everything but the Logos.

The Sketchcard Gallery will probably not be seeing too many updates – I seem to only be doing sketchcards for Auction Donations and occasionally at shows. Of late I have abandoned sketchcards in favor of a larger format that I call “E-Cono” [5-1/2” x 8-1/2” with an image Area of 5” x 7” – just right for a standard picture frame.] The E-Cono Format gives me a little more room to work while allowing me to hold a reasonable sale price of $5.00 to $7.00. I’m not sure I want to create a special E-Cono Gallery so for right now these drawings will be filing according to their subject matter and not their format.

I am about to begin working in a format / style I call Art-E. An Art-E drawing features a detailed, single figure in black and white, with little or no background. Drawn on comic art board [8-1/2’ x 11” with an 8” x 10” Image Area] this format is basically my attempt to work in the single figure pinup style of the great Art Adams – which explains the title Art-E. Most Art-E work will show in one of two existing Galleries – Fanboys for single figure pinups of Male Genre Heroes, and Genre Girls for single figure pinups of Female Genre Heroes.

The Sly-Fi Gallery is my outlet for science fiction-based gag cartoons. Many of these cartoons started as submission ideas for the now out-of-print magazine Starlog. Everything posted there so far is in the square Starlog format, but all new material will be in the bigger Art-E Format.

Over the coming weeks a number of Galleries will be moving here from the ComicArtFans site: Logos, Quik-Es [my better doodles,] and My T-shirt Designs. My pencil layouts from CAF will probably end up here in “Scraps.” As plans come together, I hope to set a regular schedule for posting Fanboy, Genre Girl and Sly-Fi.

ComicArtFans / [link]
ComicArtFans [CAF] is in the process of being trimmed back to a point where it will only be hosting any of my art or stories that are of an ADULT nature, as well as the art I have [or had once] collected by other artists whom I consider my Idols. Because of recent financial problems, most of this art is now of the “I once owned” variety.

The Dirt-E Section on CAF features general interest, ADULT gag cartoons - 8-1/2” x 11’ in full color on comic art board - with a new gag posted every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month.

The Hot-E Section on CAF carries adult gag cartoons that specifically feature a sexy send-ups of various Genre Babe’s from the world of comics, movies or fiction - with an occasional Genre STUD “for the ladies.’ Hot-E originals are also in full color on 8-1/2” x 11” comic art board, with a new gag every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month.

Any Adult-themed sequential art will host on CAF also, but there are plans for anything on a regular schedule, only when an idea comes to me.

Sequential-e / [link]
I have just set up a new site here on DA - sequential-e - which will only host my sequential / storytelling work - the exception being sequential art with an ADULT theme, that will post from the CAF Site.

The first postings to sequential-e will be pages from the Superteen magazine strip that I produced for Sterling-MacFadden in the1990’s, with brand new sequential art starting to appear in the fall. There will never be regularly scheduled postings on sequential-e, so if you start liking what you see, then I suggest adding a “watch” to the site so you get new releases automatically.

There is still quite a bit of setup work remaining at all three of the sites, so I’m out of here for now. Look for a new Dirt-E Gag on Monday [07/06] and I will be back typing at you here again on Tuesday [07/07.]

Thanks, man! Glad to be aboard. Century 3 mall, in West Mifflin. Man, I haven't been there in years, haha.
I'm sure you would have been welcome.
Eh, I'm from Pittsburgh and, while I don't miss the place itself, I am past due for a visit.
